and welcome to Lightbulb + Star! Lightbulb + Star gives photographers their time back - because editing images can take FOREVER.
I'm here to give you your time back, and goodness knows how precious time is. Whatever you choose to do with this new time is up to you. Continue bossing it at your business? I got you. Want to spend time with your loved ones? We love to see it. How about some time for yourself? You deserve it!
+ Lightbulb & Star +
Lightbulb + Star grew from my first business, KC Freelancing back in 2016. Back then, I offered image editing, writing, social media scheduling and video editing - quite a lot for just one person, I know! But now I've honed down into image editing and haven't looked back. I've been so lucky to work with loads of incredible, award-winning photographers from so many wonderful and varied fields, but truth be told, editing weddings will always be my first love - it's what I started my editing journey with after all!
My goal for Lightbulb + Star is to give you your time back. I want you to work less and live more. I want you to spend more time with your loved ones, with your friends and family, on your business, on yourself! If there is anything that these past few years have taught us, it's that time is precious, and I want to give you your time back.
not your everyday
Whilst Lightbulb + Star as a service offers image editing, as a platform it offers so much more. On the blog you'll be able to find tutorials and how to's, on Youtube you'll be able to watch in-depth processes of me editing a varied range of images as well as tutorials in Adobe Lightroom. Lightbulb + Star isn't just a service, it's an educational platform, and I want to share as many educational videos, blog posts, and all other types of content on here, for photographers and image editors who are at the beginning of their journey, to advanced folk.
I'm a seaside residing book-lover based in Kent. A Libra, INFP, and a massive Disney and Harry Potter fan - you can catch me singing along to all the Disney songs and the Hamilton soundtrack when I edit, accompanied by what I believe to be the ultimate editing snack, giant Wotsits.
I didn't even know that image editing could be a job for me when I left school. And being thrust out into the world at 17 was quite scary. I didn't have a job lined up, and I didn't want to go to university, so the search for jobs commenced. My first job was working at a dirty petrol station shop near where I lived, and cycling 2 miles in the dark (mostly raining, definitely freezing) at 5:30 am to get to work was not what I'd imagined myself doing for the rest of my life.
Then, a few months later, I saw an application to be a local photographer's assistant. I can take a photo, and I studied Film and Media Studies at school, so I guess it was kind of linked? I applied, and I got the job, and little did I know that started the journey to where I am now.
After a year of working at the garage and some months being a photography assistant, I quit working at the garage and officially started KC Freelancing, helping out other creatives in various industries with outsourcing work such as image editing, copywriting, social media scheduling, and other admin tasks. And now I'm here, five years later, and I couldn't be happier.
